Copper hits 15-month high on supply concerns

Markets moved quickly on the news, with traders reweighting exposure across rate-sensitive and resource-linked sectors.

Copper hits 15-month high on supply concerns — that is the picture emerging from this week's trading, where positioning across resources, financials and the currency complex has shifted noticeably.

Desk commentary points to commodities as the pivotal variable for the rest of the quarter. Volumes have been running above the twenty-day average, and the breadth of the move suggests institutional rather than retail participation.

Analysts caution that the underlying data remains mixed. Forward indicators have improved, but the transmission into earnings is uneven and heavily weighted toward the large-cap end of the index.

For long-term allocators, the practical question is whether current pricing already reflects a soft-landing scenario. Most of the strategists COLITCO spoke with argue it partially does, leaving limited room for disappointment.

COLITCO will continue tracking the story as further data lands, including company guidance updates and the next round of official statistics.
